Context of Rival
Project Kuiper, Amazon’s planned space internet service, kicked off with the launch of its first ever satellites on 6 October. The firm hopes the service will rival SpaceX’s Starlink.
A pair of satellites called KuiperSat-1 and KuiperSat-2 launched on a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral in Florida on 6 October. They are now orbiting 500 kilometers above Earth’s surface to test out key components of the Kuiper mega constellation, which is planned to consist of 3200 satellites.
