“Avatar: The Way of Water” opens in theaters on Dec. 16 2022.
Early reports claimed that the cost of the production of Avatar 2 was in the range of 250 million dollars, but director James Cameron still has not responded to the public about that speculation. The only hint we can notice is the answer Cameron gave about the sequel’s budget when asked by GQ magazine: ” Very fucking expensive.”
On the current list of the highest-grossing movies worldwide, director Cameron’s 2009 Avatar ranks at the top with $2.9 billion. Disney’s “Avengers: Endgame” comes in second with $2.7 billion, and Cameron’s “Titanic” spots in the third slot with $2.1 billion. Estimates suggest that if “Avatar: The Way of Water” wants to squeeze in the top five list, it has to past either “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” ($2.07 billion) or “Avengers: Infinity War” ($2.05 billion) in the fourth or fifth slots, respectively.
Hope James Cameron and his “Avatar: The Way of Water” break a leg.
