Indeed, “something ain’t right” as Mr. Orange finds himself “stuck in the middle.” Now the song no longer seems merely an ironic juxtaposition to the images. The lyrics have enriched our understanding of the narrative by directing our attention to a complicating factor in the scene, Mr. Orange’s moral dilemma: does he blow his cover and save the cop, or sacrifice the cop for the sake of the sting operation and the apprehension of the entire gang? Tarantino has pointed out that the audience is “stuck” too: “You are stuck there, and the cinema isn’t going to help you out. Every minute for that cop is a minute for you.”
