Remember that it is Mr. Blonde himself who turns on the radio for chirpy accompaniment to his shocking torture and then begins to dance. I would argue that music renders Mr. Blonde’s psychotic sadism more intuitively and thus more effectively than the dialogue. Mr. Blonde describes torturing a cop as “amusing,” but it is the music that drives home his psychopathology.
